Snow, wind and colder temperatures were in the forecast, so I decided to get an early start to Kirsty and Matt’s wedding celebration at the beautiful Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise in Lake Louise, Alberta.
Kirsty and Matt arrived from Chicago a few days earlier and were joined by family and friends from Chicago, California, British Columbia and Alberta.
The ceremony took place in the Sun Room at 4:30 with the sun just starting to go behind the mountain. It was a short simple ceremony conducted by Kirsty’s brother Scott. Their legal marriage had occurred before the day and this was a chance for them to have their family and friends witness the vows, exchange of rings and kiss. They left the ceremony to James Browns’ I Feel Good.
Everyone then made their way the short distance to the Red Room for hors d’oeuvres and cocktails. Being big fans of Chess Records blues and soul, they had a great mix of classics playing during the cocktail hour punctuated by a few speeches.
A few steps up into the Victoria Dining Room a sumptuous buffet of seafood, lamb chops, roasted strip loin and desserts had been laid out for the guests to enjoy. A few more toasts and it was on to the first dance to INXS Never Tear Us Apart, Louis Armstrong’s Wonderful World for the parents and the dance floor swung into high gear for the next 2 hours.
Throughout the day and well into the evening, photographer Julie Williams and her assistant Jesse captured the day including a live photobooth complete with props.
After last call, the party was moved down to the Glacier Saloon, far away from guest rooms that might not enjoy the party as much as the wedding guests. The dancing continued until after 1:00 am and the guests retired to their rooms.
It is always a pleasure working with the staff at the Fairmont Chateau Lake Louise. Joe, Louis and Marie made sure everything was in place in the various rooms for the ceremony, cocktails and reception and Brianne welcomed everybody to the Glacier Saloon for the afterparty.
Congratulations Kirsty and Matt!
